A popular tourist destination and recreational site for the residents of Greater Nouméa, this park is somewhere to get away from it all and enjoy the exceptional native plant and bird species hidden away in the ochre earth of the south.
Created in 1980, this immense park extends over 22,000 hectares. You could spend days here travelling around the site and admiring the native vegetation of New Caledonia's Great South.

The forestry and mining operations that were set up here at the beginning of the last century left some clearly visible remains on the site, but you will be amazed at how quickly nature has reclaimed its rights... Visiting the park is an opportunity to interact with New Caledonia’s history in a natural environment found nowhere else in the world!

The landscape alternates between maquis minier shrubland, dense forests and wetlands. These three environments are notable for the diversity and abundance of their flora and exceptional native wildlife. In addition, you’ll find most of New Caledonia’s land birds here, including the island's largest population of wild kagus. You will see that our kagus live freely and peacefully in the park and are, in fact, protected by a provincial programme. Oh, yes—where would New Caledonia be without its faithful feathered emblem?

You will also see that there are plenty of activities and themed tours to choose from. As well as some unique weekend excursions, there is lots to do during the week when it's quieter and less crowded!
Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the almost spiritual connection with Mother Nature at the Blue River Provincial Park!

You can visit the site to go hiking or mountain bike riding with your own equipment, or you can rent a mountain bike and/or a kayak with Sud Loisirs located in the Pont Pérignon car park.

*Only reservations for admission tickets and shuttle buses are possible for visits by school groups, extracurricular groups, or other groups of people. Please contact the Park directly.
