Visit to vanilla plantations and sale of vanilla beans by the producers.
Vanilla cultivation was introduced to Lifou in 1860 by the English reverend Samuel McFarlane, who brought some plants from Madagascar on his boat. Nowadays, more than 120 producers and a large number of planters supply vanilla that is 100 % natural: Lifou's "brown gold". In Mucaweng, Félix Bole was one of the first farmers to open his plantation to visitors.
