Located in the heart of the western coastal region, Green Island (Île Verte) is a small island in New Caledonia's lagoon listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s a real haven of peace and quiet, much loved by sailors for its stunning scenery.
Green Island is a nature reserve just a few minutes by boat from La Roche Percée and Nessadiou. Much of the island is out of bounds to visitors, as it is home to an important dry forest with many species of seabirds. The seabed and the underwater fauna in the area contribute to its popularity, making it a unique and precious jewel. Access to the Green Island is free of charge, however for those who require transport or wish to take part in activities offered by local providers, prices vary and reservations are often required.

Access
