Why settle for exploring just a part of the majestic Sunken Forest when you can discover it in its entirety? The Great Crossing is the MOST COMPLETE route to explore the enchanting Sunken Forest by kayak.
The activity is once again possible since the reopening of the Blue River Provincial Park on April 5th.
The Great Crossing is sure to impress you as it represents the longest kayaking route available within the park. However, due to its length, the activity is reserved for those who can endure physical exertion for several hours.
Details of the Sunken Forest expedition: At 9:00 AM: Mandatory meeting at the Pérignon Bridge, starting with navigation on part of the lake from the bridge. Then, you will cross the entire Sunken Forest and paddle up the river to the Bloc Camp (launching point near the Grand Kaori).
Afterward, you can either take a short walk in the forest towards the Grand Kaori and be transported back by shuttle to the starting point (to be organized at the park ticket office that morning) or choose to finish with a beautiful hike (Nothofagus and Kakariki - 9 km/3 hours) before returning to the Pérignon Bridge via a stunning ridge trail through diverse forests.
