  • The cathedral banyan tree, a sort of chimney 25m high, is the highlight of this trail!

  • This 10.6 km trail, which takes 4 hours to complete, is not very difficult. It begins on a wide trail and climbs steadily to the pine tree area (marker #2). At this picnic area, you will need to continue to your left and take the trail behind the table and leave the main trail. This 10.6 km trail, which takes 4 hours to complete, is not very difficult. It begins on a wide trail and climbs steadily to the pine tree area (marker #2). At this picnic area, you will need to continue to your left and take the trail behind the table and leave the main trail. You will reach the carpolepis area (landmark n°4) and continue on the trail on your left to enter the rainforest under the shade of the tree ferns. The cathedral banyan tree, a remarkable point of interest, is worth the 3 minute detour. At the Houp area (landmark n° 29), you can take the transversal of the Monnier peak to join the Monnier peak path and come back more quickly to the reception, or continue on the big kaori path. Further on, be careful with the big descent which can be slippery in rainy weather and which is also used by mountain bikes. You will then reach the kaori area (landmark no. 21), from where you can enjoy an easy walk back to the reception area and pass, after a short climb, in front of the "bread oven", a vestige of the colonial era and a witness to the human presence in this remote area.
