Classic kayak descent of the Drowned Forest - Sud Loisirs

Sud Loisirs offers a range of kayaks, both single and double, suitable for all paddlers, whether novice or experienced. These kayaks traverse the region between Camp Bloc, near the majestic kaori tree, and the legendary sunken forest.

The classic kayaking excursion is the most popular on site, and for good reason. It provides an unparalleled experience, immersing participants in a tropical atmosphere where lush forests and the songs of endemic birds delight the senses. This first part of the journey opens up to a landscape of ochre and coral hues, typical of the Grand Sud, complemented by characteristic bushy vegetation.

The second half of the route takes you to the heart of the famous sunken forest, whose current majesty bears witness to its long history. Take this opportunity to enhance your adventure with refreshing swims. Thus, the classic kayaking descent remains an essential activity for any stay in the ochre lands of New Caledonia's South.

*Once you have reached the starting point (faré or viewpoint of the drowned forest), to get back to the car park, you can :
- walk along the main track and/or the viewpoint of the drowned forest (sporting option)
- take a shuttle bus (to be booked at the ticket office that morning / ‘retour n°5’)
- or cycle the last 3 kilometres if you have opted for the ‘mountain bike + kayak combination’.

*Depending on variations in the water level of the lake, the starting and finishing points of the itineraries fluctuate throughout the year.
