Various places can be discovered when coming from Nouméa, such as the La Conception tribe, the Grand Sud tourist office, Vallon-Dore, and the scenic Corniche road with beautiful picnic areas along the beach. You can also visit Mont-Dore, the Plum Pass fountain, and Carcassonne beach.
You'll find excellent hiking opportunities, including the ascent of Mont-Dore, the Kouré mountain trail, the convicts' path at Port-Boisé, the paths of Cape N'Dua, and Casy Island, as well as the GR® NC1.
The city of Mont-Dore also hosts themed markets (once a month at the municipal market), the popular flea market at Pont-des-Français every Sunday morning, and the Saint-Louis women's market at the Reserve on weekends.
